The place we want to live in.
I’m currently working through all of the Taschen Illustration Now! books and am including two illustrators featured within the book in this bibliography.
As editor Bruno Porto writes: “whether caused by an external source or self-inflicted, the illustrator is pregnant with the illustration and will mentally deal with it alone. As he or she struggles with different ways to develop an artificial representation of an aspect of reality, their mind filters all the knowledge, references, personal and professional experiences it has been acquiring since that first doodle and balances it with current sets of tools, mood, deadlines, aspirations and so on.” (Porto, 2014).
In reviewing the process of illustration, specifically within a theoretical fantasy I’ve focused on IC4 design, who creates “the place we want to live in, we want to go to, we can enjoy, and our hope and adoration“. IC4 Design really appeals to me due to the crowded compositions and bright colours. I’m currently caught in black and white and studying IC4 Design makes me want to jump into a technicolour paradise of illustration.
